Five years ago on December 9th 2006, La Ave. Japan decided to venture out of their comfort zone of Japan and enter a territory already occupied by some of the TOP sneaker shops in the USA. Although LA. AVE had a firm grip on Asia and European countries, coming to the US was another story. Where sneaker boutiques have established their own clientele and culture. LA. AVE decided to gamble and set up shop in Los Angeles CALIFORNIA, RIF LA.
December 9th 2011. Marked our 5th year anniversary and to our surprise friends, family and customers alike flooded the RIF doors (easily over 200 fam members) and celebrated a milestone in RIF History.
Without all our Supporter, friends and family we met along the way RIF LA would never here.
THANK YOU ALL we are not only humbled with the thanks and praises but we are more motivated to give you ALL the BEST SERVICE, and PRODUCTS this culture has to offer.

What if Nike bust a secret release like what they did with the WHAT THE DUNKs and release them at selected shops worldwide? I guess we'll never know ;) But these did come out beautiful, I hope Nike Sb blesses everyone with these because they need something ASAP to save their future.

I rarely go to Vegas, but the whole staff had plans to hit up the SC Event for the PENNY PACK release, but they ended up postponing the event so we didn't even get to attend. Owell, they ended up raffling only 25 packs anyways and I would of been pissed if we didn't get at least one.
Our boy MAX killing it right now with these!!! Shouts to the people that won and kept their pack, definitely something worth keeping.

November is personally my favorite month out of the year, you can stuff yourself on Thanks Giving and you can blow all your hard earned money on BLACK FRIDAY on flatscreen tvs. Another reason why its my favorite month is because November is the time when we receive the most sneaker consignment in and it keeps us stocked up for December, so THANK YOU for giving us your shoes to sell. Who can beat our 85/15 consignment rate?! We take 15% for brand new shoes and 20% for USED shoes!

Aristocrats just open their 2nd shop in Little Tokyo, located directly across the street from us, so make sure to welcome them to the block when you make a trip down. They'll be stocked with a handful of streetwear brands and also their own in-house line, and by the way the shop looks super clean!

We understand it might be a recession for some people these days, but dam is it really worth it to go steal a Hundreds beanie? Like man, go to Ralphs and steal a couple steaks and feed yourself. We personally didn't catch these little f*cks below, but our good peoples over @ Bowls on 1st Street made sure to give us a heads up just incase they try to pull some big scamming on our side.
So if you ever see any of these guys below, feel free to knock them out, take a picture and we'll give you a couple free shirts.
Its kind of obvious this guy would steal, this dudes wearing an Angry Birdz shirt that he probably stole from Target. If you look closely you can see him stuffing his shirt with a beanie.
I ain't gonna lie, its usually dingy lookin cats on skateboards that we notice trying to pull fast ones. I will personally knock you out in the shop and wait for some pigs to pick you up if yall pull this in our shop.

FAKE SHOES have been ruining the shoe game for a longtime now and people these days are failing to double check the authenticity of their shoes. We honestly don't go a day without a person walking into the shop trying to consign a fake pair of shoes, some people try n trick us and a few just had no idea they got F*CKED with some fakes. NOTE to people, if you try and bring a fake pair of shoes to us, we will confiscate it and chop it up. (unless your a big cholo, then you can keep your fakes).

One of my good buddies swung down to UNLOAD all his pre-owned shoes and all of them were price to go, some literally sold within minutes of getting price tags on them. Sometimes you never know when you'll need a quick couple Gs, thats why its always good to have a nice shoe collection to dump when you need to.

The good peoples over @ Universal always send us a bunch of free cds, some we end up throwing straight in the trash and a few we actually play. Sometimes you feel bad and you want to give someone a chance, but doesn't suck when you realized you wasted your time opening up a cd and putting it in a cd player (who has cd players these days?).

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to the good peoples over at Nike Vault Los Angeles. To celebrate their 1 Year, they released a Kobe VI limited to only 24 pairs worldwide, which came with a hooded sweatshirt and a special metal case. S/O to Mike over @ Nike Vault!

I met a fellow shoehead recently in the shop who brought his 4 kids and they were all rockin fresh kicks, not to add he has 2 more kids who were at school who he keeps laced up in kicks. Thats 6 kids! he can low key start a basketball team and maybe even get sponsored by Jordan Brand. One day I shall have my own basketball team!

On Thursday - September 8, 2011, Nike put together an event to unveil the Nike Air Mag aka Marty McFly.
The event was held at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood.

This is the first time in RIF history that someone has ever came in with a shopping cart full of kicks. During the Summer we can expect people from all over the world to come by the shop, people from overseas to people just a few states away, but nonetheless die hard shoeheads. We have this young dude, Kahmar Keyes from Philly who saved his allowance for 2 years just so he can fly out to Los Angeles and hit up all the hot spots and of course he couldn't leave RIF LA out.

Every couple years theres a new breed of sneaker heads that start their journey into the shoe game, some get over it after a few pairs of shoes, and some stay addicted for LIFE. I remember I started my journey back in 1997, my pops bought me my first pair of jordans from the Crenshaw Swapmeet when I was 11 years old. They were the white/black aj 13s for $30.00, and I felt like the freshest 11 year old kid in 6th grade, not until some dude put me on blast and said they were fake. I should of known they were fake because $30 was too good to be true and the "23" in the bubble literally looked like the "2" and "3" found on your keyboard, but hey i was 11!

99% of the time we post something about music, its usually about our boy Kendrick Lamar or any of the other artists from TDE. Our boy Kendrick just made history last weekend if you haven't heard, he had his biggest SOLD OUT show @ the Music Box where he brought out literally EVERYONE. He brought out Dr Dre and The Game, but he was later surprised by Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Warren G, Big Sean, Talib Kweli, and Mosdef all on one stage!

Do you guys ever wonder why we have the best customer service in Los Angeles, or maybe in the world? Its because here at RIF LA, we all put our egos to the side and understand that nobody wants to be treated like SH!T. Like what do people benefit from making other people feel lower than them? you gain nothing at all. No one gives a f*ck about COOL PEOPLE, its about meeting good people who make you feel welcome when you come in. Oh yea and we all eat medicated cookies to stay positive :) i'm kidding!

We are blessed to be surrounded by great people, people who we eventually call family or friends, good peoples would be the perfect word. Our good friend zDOUBLEe would fit nicely in that category of family, he gave us the opportunity to be apart of the TANTUM LA revolution, don't act like you don't see all these cats rockin TANTUM bucket hats and pocket tees. We've dropped a handful of RIF LA x TANTUM LA Pocket tees, but just recently we dropped our SERAPE Pocket tees in black, white, navy and finally a color way that is not available to everybody, the grey Serape Pocket tees. Our good friend Dre better know as Croatianstyle from ebay, was in the building chopping it up and picking up checks. If you don't know him, then you better do some research and learn some shoe game history. I don't know anybody who has more shoes than him, better yet more RARE shoes, so make sure to hit up with twitter or ebay to cop some goodies.

Nisei Week is an annual festival celebrating Japanese American culture and history in Little Tokyo. Nisei means 2nd gen in Japanese, describing the first American born Japanese. So at the last day of Nisei Week, they always throw a huge parade right in front of our store, like we literally have front seats every year. The streets start flooding with all kinds of people, of course predominately Japanese, but everyone is together celebrating and just having fun.
Manny made sure to put our benches outside before anyone took our spot.

Homies ScHoolBoy Q and Kendrick Lamar swung by the shop during after hours to grab some fresh kicks and of course some RIF LA tees to go with that. From the first time I met these dudes, I knew they were gonna blow up from the start. These guys never stop working, from dropping mixtapes and eps, to dropping a gang of videos and doing a bunch of interviews. So AGAIN, stay tune because these guys and the whole TDE Camp about to blow up!
